We’ve celebrated opening day at both Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows which means it is officially winter! The time of year for getting out to enjoy the snow and breaking a sweat or getting cozy by a fire. There’s so much to do in this snow-covered valley all winter long. With that in mind, we thought we’d put together a list of some of our favorite active (and not so active) activities to enjoy in the Olympic Valley during the colder months.
Snowshoe To a Snowy Chalet

Looking for a truly unique way to enjoy our snowy peaks? Alpine Meadows offers a fun and delicious way to dine at a mountain chalet by booking one of their upcoming Snow Tour & Chalet Dinners! The snowshoe tour starts at the base area and then your guide will lead you to the mid-mountain chalet on the slopes of Alpine Meadows. Once you get there, you’ll be greeted with a well-earned champagne toast followed by a four course, Bavarian meal complete with a wine pairing for each course. After dessert, you’ll strap on the snowshoes to make your way off the slopes and back home to a cozy fire.
Luxurious Spa Experience
One of our favorite spots to book a spa day is right here in the Olympic Valley. Make your way to The Resort at Squaw Creek and once you’re done taking in their gorgeous lobby views, head to the spa for some relaxing treatments. The spa features some exclusive treatments like the Mountain Sports Massage or A Walk in the Wood Radiance Facial as well as Ayurveda Treatments, couples’ massage and makeup services in case you want to head to dinner after your luxurious afternoon. Finish off your day at the spa with a glass of wine at Sandy’s Pub or book a reservation at Six Peaks Grille and enjoy dishes highlighting the Tahoe region with a view of the valley.
It’s Time to Ski!
Last but not least, let’s get out on the slopes! While there are fun alternate activities in our valley, the reason we all love this place is the world-class skiing. From North America’s number one chairlift, KT-22, to the brand-new Base-to-Base Gondola to the gladed runs at Alpine Meadows, Palisades Tahoe is every skier’s dream. Whether you’re a long-time season pass holder or a weekend warrior, the 34 chairlifts and 6,000 skiable acres will have you smiling from ear to ear all day long under bluebird skies.
And, in case you didn’t know, North Lake Tahoe is home to the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America – with 11 to choose from! From Homewood’s homey feel to family-friendly Northstar to Nevada’s Mt. Rose and all the amazing slopes in between, you’ll enjoy legendary mountains and lots of breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe along the way. Tahoe is a skier’s dream!
