Summer is in full bloom at Palisades Tahoe, and with restrictions lifted in California and the long weekend fast approaching, we’ve rounded up a slew of family-friendly activities that will get you outside, enjoying the mountains, the village, and everything in between this summer! Check out our favorite summer activities at Palisades Tahoe below:
Scenic Tram Rides
The Aerial Tram is open for scenic rides up or down daily from 11 am. High Camp is transformed in summer – full of trails for hiking and biking, wildflowers blooming, and the Olympic Museum. Catch a ride for free with your Ikon Pass. Looking for a fun activity to do with kids? Take a walk and see how many different types of wildflowers you can find!

Take a Hike
Need a little more adventure to start your day? Head up Shirley Canyon and hike your way to the top. Enjoy the rushing creek and waterfalls along the way, and be rewarded with stunning views of Lake Tahoe from High Camp. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on your way, or grab a bite at High Camp Marketplace or Granite Bistro – open when the Tram is in operation.

E-Bike Tours
Looking to explore Squaw via bike? Rent an E-bike! E-Bike Tours are now available – catch a ride up the tram and explore the trails at High Camp with an expert guide. Previously inaccessible to mountain bikes, these guided tours are a great way to see Squaw from a new perspective, and perhaps get hooked on a fun new sport! There are two tours daily, lasting 1.5 hours.

Via Ferrata
Ready to push your limits and scramble around some rocks? The Via Ferrata is a guided rock climbing and hiking route, with multiple routes along the iconic rock face overlooking Palisades Tahoe. These bolted routes are guided by experts from Alpenglow Expeditions, and are suitable for most kids ages 10 and up (see website for more details).

SunSets Live Music
Live music returns to the village this summer with SunSets! This live music series is free and features a new performance each Saturday from 5-7 pm. After you’ve spent your day hiking, biking, or on the Tahoe Via, relax with some food and drinks and enjoy the sounds of live music – because what would a day spent adventuring be without the apres in the evening? New artists perform each week, so make sure to come back often!
