It’s starting to feel like spring! With the time change, longer days of sunshine, and more new snow on the way, we are ready for #miracleamarch to provide! Spring skiing is famous at Palisades Tahoe Alpine Meadows, and there are plenty of reasons why: beautiful fresh snow, sunny skies, and longer afternoons to enjoy après all add up to the perfect spring day. Here are some tips for making the most of your spring skiing days on the slopes.
Follow The Sun!
Start your day on groomers and then move to the south facing slopes as the day progresses. Tower 16 is the ultimate run in the spring and is typically pretty soft before lunch time.
Enjoy Both Mountains!
Start your day out at Alpine on the long cruiser groomers off Summit and then head over to Squaw on the Squaw Alpine Express for Sun Bowl turns and après.
Be Prepared for Anything!
We’re blessed with warm California sunshine which can make spring skiing practically balmy – but we can also get huge snow storms in March and April! That means epic powder dumps one day and bluebird skies the next. We can’t think of a better combo!
Wear Sunscreen!
Even with goggles and face masks, the sunshine is fierce in the alpine environment. The added reflection off the snow means it’s best to reapply SPF at least every hour.
Après on the Sun Decks!
While this season is a little different, you can still enjoy some sunshine, a snack and a cold beer after a day on the mountain. Our favorite outdoor dining locale is Tremigo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar. The taco board and Baja Brewing lager on draft is something you don’t want to miss.
