The air is finally starting to cool down, and there are even hints of colors changing on the trees, which can only mean one thing: it’s almost fall! Fall in Tahoe may be the most underrated season. As kids go back to school, the crowds start to dwindle and the trails begin to feel more secluded. The weather often stays warm and sunny during the days, perfect for hiking, biking, or even the beach! As temperatures drop in the evenings, we can’t help but want to cozy up next to the fire or soak in the hot tub under the stars. So here are some of our favorite things about fall, in no particular order!
There is just something so cozy about a good sweater! We love sweaters of all styles – chunky knits, long cardigans, or just big fuzzy turtlenecks – you can almost guarantee we’ll be living in sweaters for the rest of the season! If you’re looking to get your hands on some great sweaters, check out Kalifornia Jean Bar in the Village, or California 89 or Nomad Boutique in Downtown Truckee.
There’s nothing worse than getting out of bed on a chilly morning and hitting the cold floor with your bare feet! We love socks almost as much as we love sweaters – big chunky socks, fleece socks, wool socks, you really can’t go wrong with a cozy pair of socks. We love picking out handmade knit socks from Bespoke or a pair with fun patterns or cheeky sayings from Mo, Jo & Zoe in Downtown Truckee.
Let’s be honest: the best part about fall is that winter is just around the corner! Shoulder seasons in Tahoe don’t last long, which means the mountains will be open and we’ll (hopefully) be getting snow dumps before we know it. Consider this your reminder to secure your season pass if you haven’t already! Ikon Passes are still on sale, and although no end date has been announced, they do usually stop selling them once resorts begin to open. If you’ve already secured your pass, you can check out all the details for the upcoming season, including opening days, blackout dates, partner resorts, and even upload your photo online at ikonpass.com.
