Spring is in the air and that means summer is just around the corner! As we shift out of our ski boots and into our bike shorts, we can’t help but get excited about all the amazing summer activities there are in Tahoe! Enjoying sunny weather, outdoor adventures, and local cuisine is easy when you live at the Palisades, where just about anything you’d want to do is just minutes from your door. Here are our Top 5 Reasons to Call The Palisades Home this Summer.
1. Minutes from the Village
The Village at Palisades Tahoe is just as fun during the summer as it is when the slopes are open! In fact, enjoying fresh bites at one of the many outdoor patios after a hike is one of our favorite ways to spend a Saturday! Take a scenic tram ride, walk among the wildflowers at High Camp, and grab lunch from Coffeebar. There are so many options for food and drinks in the Village, it’s easy to find a new favorite. Looking for a fun date night? Enjoy a delicious seasonal dinner and fine wine at PlumpJack Cafe.
2. Minutes from World-Class Mountain Biking
The greater Tahoe region has mountain bike trails for everyone – whether you’re into shredding epic downhill or looking for a scenic cross-country ride, the trail systems in Tahoe don’t disappoint. Head over to the Northstar Bike Park for lift-assisted trails ranging from single-track cruising to technical downhill. If you want great views of the lake, enjoy mountain-bike friendly sections of the Tahoe Rim Trail. Check out the Picnic Rock Vista Ride for an easy 3-mile roundtrip with stunning views of the lake, or McCloud Falls for a more challenging ride along the West Shore.
3. Hiking Trails Galore
Perhaps even more ubiquitous than the mountain biking trails in Tahoe are the amazing hiking trails. Whether you’re looking for waterfalls, wildflowers, alpine lakes, or sweeping views, there are plenty of hiking trails just minutes from your door in The Palisades! Some of our favorite trails are dog-friendly, so you can bring the pooch along! We love hiking up Shirley Canyon to see the waterfalls or exploring the Five Lakes Trail. For a longer loop with majestic views of Lake Tahoe, try the Tahoe City Rim Trail Loop.
4. Bike to Lake Tahoe along the Truckee River
The Truckee River Bike Path is a summer staple – you can hop on for a quick ride to the Village, or take it all the way to Tahoe City. Meandering through the pines and alongside the Truckee River for most of the way, the path offers a fun family excursion regardless of your final destination. You could ride all the way to Tahoe House for a decadent breakfast pastry and coffee, or stop in at the Bridgetender for lunch next to the river. The path is mostly flat, so you can take your time and even stop at a pullout along the way if you’re brave enough for a dip!
5. Expansive Outdoor Living
One of the best parts about summer in Tahoe is spending entire days outside – and that doesn’t stop when you come home to The Palisades! With seamless indoor/outdoor living spaces integral to the design, enjoying the great outdoors is built into life at The Palisades. Floor-to-ceiling windows let the summer light in; enjoy views of the mountains surrounded by towering pine trees on the expansive outdoor deck. You’ll never forget you’re surrounded by nature when you’re home here.
